Eurosport Events has confirmed the likely change to the points allocation system in the European Rally Championship ERC for the 2020 season.
Concretely, the first fifteen pilots of each rally will be rewarded with points in the Drivers classification, in the following format:
1st = 30 pts
2nd = 24 pts
3nd = 21 pts
4nd = 19 pts
5nd = 17 pts
6nd = 15 pts
7nd = 13 pts
8nd = 11 pts
9nd = 9 pts
10nd = 7 pts
11nd = 5 pts
12nd = 4 pts
13nd = 3 pts
14nd = 2 pts
15 = 1pt
In fact, the bonus points awarded to drivers at the end of each stage will also be subject to modification, since the first five will score points against the current top 7.
The scale will be as follows: 1st = 5 pts, 2nd = 4 pts, 3rd = 3 pts, 4th = 2 pts, 5th = 1 pt.
If this sharing of points had been implemented in 2019, 19 additional drivers would have scored points this year.
