The Rally di Roma Capitale (July 24-26), kick-off of the 2020 European Rally Championship season ERC, will be able to count among its entrants the Norwegian Oliver Solberg, who will make his debut on this occasion on a rally 100% asphalt.

The son of the world champion WRC 2003 will run on a Volkswagen Polo R5 GTI from PA Racing. “Driving on asphalt is really different from gravel or snow, recalls the young 18-year-old pilot.

I certainly did a few dry SS at the Monte-Carlo Rally this year, but it's not comparable. For Rome, the car settings will be more rigid, and the configuration completely different.

Time spent with Sébastien Loeb taught me a lot. I was so lucky to spend that time with him and sit in the car and watch what he was doing so things were a lot clearer to me.

He showed me a lot about weight transfer, braking, all those things that are crucial to getting the car into a corner and passing without sliding. On dirt you make the car slide more and that can be the way to go faster.

On asphalt, when you slide, you can hear that you are killing the tires and losing speed. This is what I need to remember when I'm in the car in Rome. »
