Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) wins his first F1 victory by winning the Russian GP in Sochi ahead of the Ferraris of Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Räikkönen. Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) missed the podium for the first time this season by finishing 4th ahead of Max Verstappen (Red Bull) and the Force India of Sergio Pérez and Esteban Ocon, the Frenchman achieving his best result in F1.

Nico Hülkenberg (Renault) took the points for 8th place ahead of Felipe Massa (Williams) and Carlos Sainz Jr (Toro Rosso). National driver Daniil Kvyat (Toro Rosso) is 12th. Stoffel Vandoorne (McLaren) finished 14th.

Romain Grosjean (Haas) retired at the start of the race following contact with Jolyon Palmer (Renault). Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) and Fernando Alonso (McLaren) did not see the finish due to mechanical problems.

Hamilton took 4th place ahead of Verstappen and the Force India of Pérez and Ocon, the Frenchman signing his best result in F1. Hülkenberg secures 8th place ahead of Massa and Sainz Jr. Kvyat finishes in 12th place, two places ahead of Vandoorne who sees the finish.

Bottas wins the Russian GP ahead of Vettel and Räikkönen!

Bottas begins the final lap of the Russian GP. The Finn is on the verge of winning his first Grand Prix.

As the final lap approaches, Bottas comes back to a group of backmarkers.

With 2 laps to go, Ocon only has a second on Hülkenberg. Vettel remains chasing Bottas but the Finn sees the checkered flag getting closer.

With 3 laps to go, Vettel again set the fastest lap in the race but still failed to come within a second of Bottas.

With 4 laps to go, Vettel continued his attack and came back to 1″2 behind Bottas.

T48 – Vettel seems to be struggling to get back to within a second of Bottas. The Finn still seems able to maintain the gap on his rival.

T47 – Vettel further reduces the gap. There is only 1″ that separates Bottas’ Mercedes from the German’s Ferrari.

T46 – Vettel resumes his attack by reducing the gap to 1″5 against Bottas.

T46 – Bottas seems stressed. The Mercedes driver asked to have less information in his radio. He maintains a lead of 1”8 over Vettel.

T45 – Vettel lost time by overtaking Sainz Jr. Bottas now has a lead of almost 2 seconds while the Ferrari driver was on the verge of being able to activate his DRS.

T44 – Ocon is less than 4s ahead of Hülkenberg. The Force India driver is aiming for 7th place, with the Frenchman nearly 8s behind his teammate Pérez.

T43 – Vettel is back to 1″5 behind Bottas while the leaders must work to overtake the backmarkers.

T42 – Massa makes a second pit stop and comes out in 2th place behind Hülkenberg.

T42 – Hamilton is not there in Sochi. The Mercedes driver is 16s behind Räikkönen. The podium seems out of reach on a regular basis for the Briton.

T41 – Hülkenberg makes his save. The Renault driver starts back in 9th place between Ocon and Sainz Jr.
