The first crews have already set off in the 41km of Panzerplatte.
Ott Tänak (Toyota) signed a new scratch by completing the 10,73km of Arena Panzerplatte, SS12 of the German Rally, in 6'05''8. The race leader took 6 tenths from Thierry Neuville (Hyundai). Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) followed at a second, ahead of his teammate Kris Meeke by almost a second. Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) followed more than 2 seconds ahead of Teemu Suninen (M-Sport), Dani Sordo (Hyundai), Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai), Esapekka Lappi (Citroën) and Gus Greensmith (M-Sport). Takamoto Katsuta (Toyota) finished more than 24 seconds behind.
Ott Tänak now has a 5”6 lead over Thierry Neuville. Sébastien Ogier remains 3rd with only 1''4 ahead of Kris Meeke. Jari-Matti Latvala follows more than 3 seconds behind. Andreas Mikkelsen remains 6th with more than 9 seconds ahead of Dani Sordo who has almost 4 seconds ahead of Esapekka Lappi. Takamoto Katsuta is 9th ahead of Gus Greensmith.
Tänak has the last word on this SS with 6 tenths ahead of Neuville who is 5″6 behind the leader.
Neuville still manages to improve the mark with half a second ahead of Latvala. “We still need to improve some things but we rode well. »
Ogier signs the 3rd fastest time, 3″2 behind Latvala and 2″3 behind Meeke. The Citroën driver only retained his 3rd place for 1″4 before the long Panzerplatte ES. “I'm just trying to go fast. I won’t talk about tire preservation…”
Meeke drops 9 tenths to his teammate Latvala who is 3″3 behind the Northern Irishman in 4th position.
Latvala increases the pace with a 3″5 lead over Suninen. The Toyota driver is still struggling to catch up with his teammate Meeke. “I'm surprised by my time because I didn't really attack but it's nice to see. »
Mikkelsen ranks 1″3 in the provisional standings and drops less than a second to his teammate Sordo. The Norwegian remains 6th. “It will be hot in the next SS. »
Greensmith ranks 7s behind his teammate Suninen. The Briton is isolated in 10th position.
Lappi ranks almost 3s behind Suninen and loses 2s on Sordo. The Citroën driver is now almost 4s behind the Spaniard. The Finn took on an extra wheel. “I had a sudden landing on a jump, it cracked the windshield. »
