Ott Tänak (Toyota) scored a new scratch at Wales Rally GB by completing the 19,48km of Dyfi in 10'56''7, almost 2 seconds ahead of the Citroëns of Craig Breen and Mads Ostberg. Sébastien Ogier (M-Sport) followed just over 2 seconds behind, taking several more seconds off the Toyota of Esapekka Lappi and Jari-Matti Latvala who were surrounding the Hyundai of Hayden Paddon. Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) was the slowest, more than 7 seconds behind.

Ott Tänak extends his lead to more than 45 seconds against Sébastien Ogier. The five-time WRC champion pushed Esapekka Lappi back more than 4 seconds, the Finn remaining only 6 tenths ahead of teammate Jari-Matti Latvala. Craig Breen remains 5th but the Irishman is less than 4 seconds behind the 3rd Yaris WRC. Mads Ostberg remains 6th ahead of the trio of Hyundai drivers made up of Hayden Paddon, Thierry Neuville and Andreas Mikkelsen. Kalle Rovanperä (Skoda) remains at the top of WRC 2 by completing the Top 10.

Ogier and Neuville complained about the lack of grip in the special.

Neuville is the slowest at the finish, 5″6 behind Ogier. The Hyundai driver remains 8th, now 9s behind his teammate Paddon.

Lappi is one of the slowest, setting the same time as Paddon, 3″4 behind. The Toyota driver finds himself 4″5 behind Ogier.

Breen achieves the same time as his teammate Ostberg. The Irishman occupies 5th position.

Ostberg improves Mikkelsen's time by 9 tenths. The Citroën driver suffered a nice slide in the last corner. The Norwegian is still in 6th position.

Mikkelsen sets a first time in 10'59″4. The Hyundai driver is ranked 9th behind his teammate Neuville.

Ostberg and Breen are in the same rhythm. The Citroën drivers are both faster than Paddon.

This great classic of Wales Rally GB offers a slightly shorter route than the one taken in 2016. The cars will also move in the opposite direction. The roads are rather fast on this course which have several traps, especially towards the end.

The crews are now heading to the 19,48km Dyfi special. Mikkelsen is scheduled to start at 11:28 a.m.
