Ott Tänak (Ford) was the fastest on the second pass of Mittelmosel this Friday afternoon, on a very wet course, and where the competitors made different tire choices. The Estonian from M-Sport, who had partly relied on rain tires, completed the special in 13'31"5 and precedes Andreas Mikkelsen (Citroën) by 3"2 and Sébastien Ogier (Ford) by 5"1.

In the general classification, Mikkelsen maintains the advantage by nine tenths over Ott Tänak, while Sébastien Ogier is still in third position at 7″5. The gaps are widening behind as Thierry Neuville (Hyundai), now fourth, follows at 26″3 and is ahead of Elfyn Evans (Ford), classified at 29″4, Esapekka Lappi (Toyota) at 31″8 and Craig Breen (Citroën) at 49″3.

The Toyotas of Juho Hänninen and Jari-Matti Latvala follow in the standings at 52″ and 1’47″3. Hayden Paddon (Hyundai) provisionally completes the top 10 at 1'52″6.

Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) concedes 13″7 on Tänak. The Finn was on soft tires. “The first part was ok. But towards the end, on the wider road, I aquaplaned, and I lost confidence. » Latvala, however, no longer seems bothered by the engine problem which affected him during SS5.

“It’s not that good,” says Tänak. There was a tight hairpin, I pulled the handbrake but couldn't see anything and went straight into the vines. I was very lucky to come back. I'm disappointed that I didn't take rain tires as the team suggested. »

Sébastien Ogier (Ford) is faster than Neuville, completing the 22 km of Mittelmosel in 13'36″6, 6″9 ahead of the Belgian. " Not so easy. I don't know. Let's see how the drivers behind behave, but it could work with the rain tires. We had some aquaplaning in places. The important thing is that Thierry and I are on the same choice. »
