Thank you for having followed us. See you tomorrow at 8 a.m. for the rest of the pre-season tests!

The crushing heat of Sakhir (Bahrain) of the morning session gave way this Thursday, March 10 to the first test session contested partly at night for the new F1 2022. Long credited with the best time, Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) left this honor to Pierre Gasly (AlphaTauri).

Not content with being the fastest, the Frenchman was also one of three drivers to record more than 100 laps in one day, along with Sergio Pérez (Red Bull) and Alexander Albon (Williams). The Williams also presents a pontoon solution quite similar to the Mercedes W13, that is to say tiny.

Red Bull therefore had an efficient day... until Sergio Pérez offered a pirouette worthy of a beginner. Worse still, the Mexican got tangled in the gravel while reversing to get back on the right path!

In the same radius of embarrassing moments, Alpine lost an hour repairing damage to his Power Unit, forcing Fernando Alonso to only complete 24 laps in a 4-hour session.

For its part, Ferrari has no problems to report. Carlos Sainz Jr and Charles Leclerc complete the virtual podium; between them, the Maranello car also passed 100 laps.

Absent from the morning session due to a delay in the delivery of parts by cargo plane, the Haas team was able to begin its development work in the desert. Kevin Magnussen, Nikita Mazepin's replacement, took his seat before giving way to test driver Pietro Fittipaldi, who brings up the rear.
