Small point score: Leclerc leads 8 to 0 in qualifying against Carlos Sainz while for the second time in a row Pérez finishes ahead of Verstappen. The Dutchman was disappointed at the end of his radio tour.

With this pole position, Leclerc becomes the first driver to score two poles in Baku. Russell finished 5th ahead of Gasly, Hamilton, Tsunoda, Vettel and Alonso.

BUT WHAT A TOUR BY CHARLES LECLERC!!! The Monegasque has just mystified everyone and will start in pole position tomorrow. Verstappen finished 3 tenths behind. Pérez, the man in form at Red Bull, is second.

Less than two minutes left! The pilots leave for their final attempts. The suspense is still there but Sainz's error prevents him from improving!

Hamilton complains about porpoising and is currently in 8th position behind Vettel and ahead of Alonso and Tsunoda.

Leclerc and Pérez made small errors in their respective laps and could dislodge the Spaniard.

Note the excellent lap of Pierre Gasly who is currently 5th. The Habs cannot aim higher but they are 1 tenth ahead of Russell, 6th.

Carlos Sainz wins the first battle, the Spaniard takes provisional pole ahead of Leclerc, Pérez and Verstappen! Could the Spaniard come and play spoilsport?

In 12 minutes, we will finally know if Leclerc managed to make the pass of 4. Alonso is the first to leave the garage.

Now it's time for the battle for pole position in Q3 in Baku! Who will start in first position tomorrow, Leclerc, Pérez, Sainz or Verstappen?

Very good operation for AlphaTauri which places its two single-seaters in Q3! Pierre Gasly is capable of getting 5th place on the grid and perhaps finally holds the qualifications he has been waiting for since the start of the season.

Sebastian Vettel's error, of no consequence since he advances to Q3.

It's over for Q2! Ocon can blame himself, he does not make the cut and remains in 12th position. Bottas also eliminated like Zhou, Ricciardo and Norris!

Disappointment for Zhou and Bottas only 14th and 15th. Hamilton was pinned for driving too slowly at the 12th turn.

Very big response from Pérez who went to the limit to go under one minute and 42 seconds. The Mexican still has some left under his belt since he has not improved in the first sector.
