Maro Engel (Mercedes) won the FIA GT World Cup in Macau after regaining the advantage over Edoardo Mortara (Audi) who had achieved a better start. The German was subsequently no longer worried and went on to offer the star manufacturer a first success in this new event.
If the Team Phoenix resident seemed to make a superb start, he suffered a penalty at the end of the race where he took second place for an early start.
The Italian slipped to sixth, allowing René Rast (Audi) to take second place while Stefan Mücke (Aston Martin) gets on the podium. Renger van der Zande (Mercedes) and Darryl O'Young (Aston Martin) complete the top five.
The race was stopped when John Shen (Porsche) hit a competitor, causing a pile-up while the safety car was on the track. Kevin Estre (McLaren) retired after being involved in a collision at the start of the event with Richard Lyons (Aston Martin).
