Ott Tänak (Toyota) scored a new scratch by completing the 28,83km Welshs Creek Reverse in 15'01''4. The Estonian beat his teammate Jari-Matti Latvala by 4 seconds. Hayden Paddon (Hyundai) followed almost 9 seconds behind, gaining 3 tenths from Mads Ostberg (Citroën).
Sébastien Ogier (M-Sport) failed at 13 seconds but was still 5 seconds ahead of Thierry Neuville (Hyundai).
Ott Tänak did not even need instructions to take the lead in Rally Australia as he is now ahead of Jari-Matti Latvala by 8 tenths. Mads Ostberg remains 3rd, 2”7 ahead of Hayden Paddon. Sébastien Ogier remains 6th behind Esapekka Lappi (Toyota) ahead of Elfyn Evans (M-Sport). Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) gained a place and found himself 8th ahead of Teemu Suninen (M-Sport) for a lead of 3 tenths.
