After recording his 100th premier class podium at Phillip Island, many believed that Marc Marquez had more or less returned to his pre-injury level. But we must not forget that it made its return barely a month ago and that the RC213V version 2022 is difficult to tame. 

If the eight-time world champion manages to shine, it is by putting himself in the red and coming close to the limit, a bit like fabio quartararo on his Yamaha YZR-M1. However, the Catalan started from the first row. “As I said yesterday (Saturday), what we did in qualifying was beyond expectations and it's more or less what I expected from our race,” he confided. We gave everything throughout the race to get the best possible result, we had a very good start, but I saw that I didn't have the pace necessary to stay with the leaders. I tried to find my place, avoid taking unnecessary risks and gather good information. »

Marquez hopes that this seventh place finish will allow Honda engineers to identify points to work on for the 213 RC2023V. “I have done everything Honda asked of me and I am optimistic,” explains the Spaniard. They will use this information to move forward. We can now start preparing for Valencia after a difficult weekend, because here we could see the level of our bike. I think we can be closer in Valencia. »
