For the return of F2 in France, Theo Pourchaire was keen to do things well. At home and carried by the crowd already present in the stands of Paul-Ricard this Sunday morning, the ART Grand Prix driver produced a great performance starting from 5e the 2e place and offering a podium to its supporters in passing.

« It was a crazy weekend, he savored. I am very happy to have been able to race here at Paul-Ricard. I signed two podiums, at least in my heart (laughs, he finished 3e the day before but he was then penalized). It was great! I want to thank all the fans who came. These are memories that I will keep forever in my mind. »

Part 5e, Théo Pourchaire experienced a relatively calm first part of the race where he preferred to wait instead of attacking from the start. To manage to come back, the Grassois relied on the good strategy of his team and the abandonment of Logan sargeant (Carlin) to gain 3 positions at refueling time. A great success for him.

« The key was the strategy and it was very good, continues the person concerned. We decided to stop earlier than the other cars and it worked. I was able to gain two or three positions thanks to the undercut. At the end of the race, I suffered from a little tire degradation. Luckily, no one was catching me except Jack Doohan but he made a mistake. In the end, the strategy was good as was the stop and start.

I didn't really manage my tires, I was rather suffering from oversteer with the car, the traction was not ideal. That's why I couldn't get back on Ayumu so I concentrated on keeping my place on the podium."

Heading forward

Second in France behind Ayumu Iwasa (DAMS), Théo Pourchaire regained his place as runner-up to Felipe Drugovich (MP Motorsport) in the championship. If he is still significantly behind the Brazilian (39 points), the Sauber Academy protégé wants to be confident for the last part of the season.

« It looks positive for the future, he emphasizes. We have had a better pace than the championship leader for a few races. I feel confident and we will fight until the end. Felipe is very consistent, he scores a few points more than me. But there is the Hungaroring before the break and then we continue with a very important triple-header on the way back, I'm ready! »
