The opening round of Season 10 was more difficult than expected at Nissan. In Mexico, the Japanese team failed to break into the top 10, despite a great comeback from Oliver Rowland in the race (nine places gained), and left Mexico with a scoreless score (11th for Rowland , 12th for Fenestraz).

Fortunately, training based on Viruses-Châtillon (Essonne) will not have time to dwell too much on this failure, since the first double headers of the season is already arriving this weekend, in Diriyah (Saudi Arabia, January 27 and 28). Carried by “encouraging signs” shown in Mexico, particularly on energy management which finally seems to be on point this year, Nissan is presenting itself in the Middle East with the firm ambition of showing a better face than in Mexico.

“Oliver [Rowland] and Sacha [Fenestraz] worked well as a team, which shows that we have a good driver duo that we can rely on for the season. We know we have a good car, and our goal for Diriyah is to iron out any issues and make sure we can run smoothly, underlines Tommaso Volpe, General Manager and Team Principal of Nissan. This double meeting gives us two opportunities to score points, so our objective will be to learn as much as possible from Friday's race to help us on Saturday, and to perfect our settings for a circuit which demands as much agility as it does. top speed. »

Fenestraz back on the circuit for his first points

Among the pilots, optimism is also there. Sacha Fenestraz will return to the circuit where he scored his first points in Formula E, last year. The Franco-Argentinian driver is awaiting this new meeting with a certain appetite, having failed to score points in Mexico.

“Diriyah is one of my favorite circuits on the Formula E calendar. Its blind corners and low margin for error make it exciting to drive and I have fond memories of it, confides the 24-year-old pilot. Although the end result in Mexico was not what we wanted, we showed good pace in qualifying, and so our preparation focused on bringing that speed to the race. Naturally, double rounds are always busy and tiring, but if we can work together to find consistency across both races, then I'm confident we can come away with a good packet of points. »
