Arriving at Meyer Shank Racing, the 500 Indy 2019 winner spoke after his first test session with his new team. Simon Pagenaud talks about the upcoming IndyCar season and his desire to try his luck again at the Le Mans classic.

You begin a new adventure after seven seasons (2015-2021. Editor's note) at Penske, what are your feelings?

Seven years in competition is almost a lifetime. I am used to a team, a way of working, tools and an environment specific to Team Penske. It's a big change in my career. My goal at Meyer Shank Racing will be to lead the team with Helio (Castroneves. Editor’s note) towards the highest level. It's a role that I wanted to take on in a team. This environment seems to suit me perfectly and it allows me to start in a very positive way.

Is your role that of road captain in short?

Yes, but so is Helio. We will have to use all our experience. Especially him, who is a four-time Indy 500 champion (2001, 2002,
