Théo Pourchaire formalized in Super Formula at Team Impul

After convincing tests, Théo Pourchaire will indeed be part of Super Formula in 2024. The Frenchman joins the Team Impul team, supported by Toyota.

Théo Pourchaire formalized in Super Formula at Team Impul

This time, it's official ! Theo Pourchaire is exiled to Japan for the 2024 season and will discover the Super Formula championship. French carried out good tests at the beginning of December, during the rookie tests organized at Suzuka, and convinced. The champion of Formula 2 therefore joins Team Impul in 2024, a team supported and powered by Toyota. He will wear number 19 and will have Yuji Kunimoto as his teammate.

Pourchaire to conquer the East

After three seasons and a crown in Formula 2, Théo Pourchaire will discover Super Formula next year, always with the aim of achieving the Formula 1. In Suzuka, the Habs were entitled to two days of driving, with two hours of sessions in the morning and afternoon. In total he completed 140 laps. Beyond the quantity, the Grassois was able to progress over the passages to finish less than three tenths from the reference of the week with a best time of 1'36"586.

The Frenchman gave us his feelings after these tests at Suzuka. “It was very nice. For me it was a new car that I had never driven, a new circuit, new team, etc… Lots of things to discover, he explained to us. Overall everything went well. I loved Suzuka with the added bonus of great weather even if it was a little cold. This allowed me to ride a lot. The car is awesome to drive. Regarding the circuit, it is one of the most complicated that I have ever done in my career and above all one of the most beautiful. I had the opportunity to speak with F1 drivers who told me that Suzuka is one of their favorite circuits. »

Théo Pourchaire will therefore become the first Frenchman since Sacha Fenestraz – Giuliano Alesi (in 2022) to compete in Super Formula. Pierre Gasly had also gone through this stage, in 2017, finishing second in the championship before being established at Toro Rosso in Formula 1. Let’s wish him the same destiny!
