Juan Manuel Correa will have to wait to make his big debut in Endurance with Prema. Planned in the Oreca 07 of the Italian team for the new season ofELMS alongside Louis Delétraz and Ferdinand Habsburg, the American driver was forced to withdraw from the first race of the season, scheduled at the Paul-Ricard circuit on Sunday April 17.

“I have a metatarsal fracture in my left foot, explained Juan Manuel Correa in a video posted on his Twitter account. A few weeks ago in Bahrain, during the race (of F3. Editor’s note), I started to feel a very sharp pain in my left foot. We had it examined. It seemed like it was just an inflammation of the tendon and I was able to rest for the last few weeks, but a few days ago during the Jerez test the pain came back. So we did an MRI last night, we got the results today and there is indeed a stress fracture. »

“I am extremely disappointed, the pilot continued. I thought I wouldn't have to deal with any more injuries this year. I thought I had enough last year, but it continues. It's like that. Doctors recommended a few weeks of rest. We will see how it heals, how the pain improves. Obviously this means that there will be no ELMS race next week. » Prema has not yet announced a replacement for the season opener.

The 22-year-old driver hopes to be ready for the next Formula 3 race, scheduled for Imola on April 24.
