ELMS – Oak Racing pushes well at Donington

If the start of the tests had been disrupted by rain, the competitors of theELMS were able to take advantage of a dry track to compete in qualifying at Donington. Matthieu Lahaye set a time of 1'20"921 with the Oak Racing Morgan-Judd. The boss-driver's teammate Jacques Nicolet thus offers the first pole to the British manufacturer represented by the French structure. “It’s a fantastic result after our disappointment at Le Mans”, comments the pole sitter. “We have had a very good pace since the start of the weekend. Even though there are not many cars (only 13 crews entered), the level of competition is high in the LMP2 category. »

The crew of the No. 24 will have to be wary of the Oreca 03-Nissan of Thiriet by TDS Racing, victorious at Paul-Ricard with Matthias Beche and Pierre Thiriet, which only failed 142 thousandths from pole. The Zytek Z11SN-Nissan from the Jota team driven by Sam Hancock and Simon Dolan will start from third place ahead of the second Morgan from Oak Racing powered by Nissan and driven by Dimitri Enjalbert, Bertrand Baguette and Olivier Pla who had yet carried out few tests following a mechanical problem. The top five is completed by the Greaves Motorsport Zytek Z11SN-Nissan driven by Tom Kimber-Smith, Alex Brundle and Lucas Ordonez.
