After six unsuccessful attempts, Mike conway finally won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2021. A dream come true for the 38-year-old driver, four-time race winner IndyCar in a previous life, that of a pilot car. Like many young people looking for a career as a professional pilot, the Briton imagined himself more in Formula 1 whether Endurance. Despite everything, Mike Conway always kept an eye on the double clock tower at Sarthoise. “I have always been fascinated by Le Mans and I was interested in it from afar, remembers the person concerned on the website of WEC. As a young driver, you're completely focused on F1, but when I saw that that probably wasn't going to happen, the opportunities came in IndyCar. So I focused entirely on IndyCar and towards the end, a contract in Endurance presented itself. I had followed Le Mans, I jumped at the chance and I really fell in love with sports prototypes. »

The 2021 season was a complete success for Mike Conway and his teammates Kamui Kobayashi and Jose Maria López with a first coronation at Le Mans, therefore, but also a second world title in a row. The trio of Toyota No. 7 hopes to continue its momentum for this 10th season of the WEC, so the Prologue takes place this weekend on the Sebring circuit where the first race will take place on Friday March 18. “It’s an extraordinary feeling (to be world champion. Editor’s note) Once you earn it for the first time, all you want to do is keep it. It's just as difficult, I think, to keep a title. It's as difficult as getting the first one, so it was a really amazing feeling. I am very proud of this title last year. And now we start the 2022 season wanting to win a third championship… that would be nice. » The No. 7 Toyota set the best time on the first morning of the Prologue on Saturday.
