GTP
Daytona night can be cruel, even fatal for the best cars. At Cadillac, after 14 hours of racing, feelings are mixed: the Detroit manufacturer leads the 24 Hours of Daytona thanks to the No. 31 from Whelen Engineering, driven by Tom Blomqvist, but lost the No. 01 due to a technical problem. ! Roger van der Zande had to stop his car even though he was classified 3rd before this mishap. The No. 01 Cadillac had already experienced several problems during the night, with a puncture and a drive-through.
At BMW too, the two cars do not experience the same fate: the No. 25 of René Rast is still in contention for victory, in 3rd place behind the Porsche n°7, but the BMW n°24 of Dries Vanthoor stopped after 13 hours of racing, before being towed to his garage. The German LMDh was able to restart after a 20-minute stop, but was penalized with a one-minute stop-and-go afterwards, as the RLL team worked on the car when the pit lane was closed .
LM P2
In LM P2, Paul-Loup Chatin leads the category aboard the #99 AO Racing “Spike”, just ahead of the #8 Tower Motorsport of Scott McLaughlin. The No. 74 Riley of Felipe Fraga spun on the restart after the Full Course Yellow caused by the No. 24 BMW, without seriousness.
GTD Pro / GTD
In GTD Pro, Corvette leads the debates with the No. 3 driven by Dani Juncadella, ahead of the Ferrari n°62 of the Risi Competizione team of Alessandro Pier Guidi. In the GTD, Indy Dontje is in the lead aboard the Mercedes-AMG n°57 Winward Racing. The No. 55 Ford Mustang from Proton Competition has retired, while the No. 13 Corvette from the AWA team is being announced in garages with a new power steering problem.
