We were initially expecting a pilot from F1 Currently, we will finally have a former F1 driver... what's more, a former world champion! If Alexander albon was expected to be the favorite, it will indeed be Jenson Button who will start the 24 Hours of Daytona aboard the No. 40 WTRAndretti Acura, from January 25 to 28, 2024. The Briton will participate in the event for the first time Floridian, he who had discovered theIMSA at the end of the season during Petit Le MansWith the Porsche 963 from JDC-Miller Motorsports. He will be lined up alongside Jordan Taylor, Louis Delétraz and Colton Herta.

Another renowned driver will be entered with WTRAndretti: Marcus Ericsson, winner of the Indianapolis 500 in 2022. The Swede has already participated in the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2022, with Cadillac. The ex-F1 driver, now converted to IndyCar and who will be an Andretti driver in this championship in 2024, will drive the No. 10 Acura alongside Ricky Taylor, Filipe Albuquerque and Brendon Hartley.

For Jenson Button, fond of a program in Endurance either WEC, either in IMSA, will have the opportunity to shine in a 24 Hour race, he who was on board the NASCAR of Garage 56 in Le Mans during the Centenary edition last June. “I am very happy to announce that I will participate in Daytona with WTRAndretti with one of my Le Mans teammates and my good friend Jordan Taylor, the super fast Louis Delétraz and Colton Herta whose career I followed in IndyCar with great interest. I had my first taste of IMSA last month at Petit Le Mans and loved it, confides Jenson Button. I couldn't be happier to race at Daytona with such a prestigious team that has accomplished so much in endurance racing. »

For Marcus Ericsson, if an Endurance program is not on the agenda, the Swede wants above all to take advantage of this opportunity to start his new chapter with Andretti in the best possible way. “I am very excited and proud to join the WTRAndretti team for the 24 Hours of Daytona, he rejoices. After getting a taste of racing in 2022, I couldn't wait to get back on the starting grid of this legendary race. It's fantastic to race with one of the best and most successful teams in the sport! It's very special for me to race with Acura, HPD and HRC who I know very well having raced my entire IndyCar career with them. Roll on 2024! »
