Alpine does not have a third chassis for Japan

Just like Williams, Alpine shows up at Suzuka without a spare chassis. No room for error therefore for Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon otherwise they will not be able to ride on Sunday.

We saw it in Australia, when a team does not have a spare chassis, the weekend can quickly turn into a nightmare. Williams paid the cost when Alex Albon sent his car into the wall in FP1. In addition to being able to field only one car on the starting grid on Sunday, the Grove team suffered a media storm after making the decision to give the car de Logan sargeant to his Thai teammate.

The press conference on the first day of the Japanese Grand Prix taught us that Williams was not the only team in this situation. Indeed, Bruno Famin did not hold tongues in front of the journalists and confirmed, with a sharp no, thatAlpine did not have a third chassis. The main team, however, did not explain in more detail the reasons for this absence but affirmed that the French team will have a spare chassis. “See you next race”.

A new worrying situation?

Williams lacks a chassis, the situation is not necessarily looking good. But then when it is Alpine, a factory team with much more substantial resources which lacks a spare chassis, this is a little more alarming. The development and production capacity of the A arrow is large enough to produce a third chassis, compared to Williams. So, deliberate risk-taking to develop single-seaters more quickly or yet another admission of weakness?

Si Pierre Gasly ou Esteban Ocon destroy their car, just like Alex Albon did, what decision will be made at Alpine ? Will one of the two drivers be favored? Hard to believe as the two Normans are so close in terms of performance. Whoever breaks his car, if that happens, then he should not drive.

One thing is certain, it gets a little more complicated for Alpine, despite the first improvements made on the A524. Already the points are too complicated to achieve with two cars, but then if there is only one car left on the track, the task seems almost impossible...
