Hamilton convinced Domenicali has no intention of 'getting rid' of traditional circuits

Hamilton convinced that Domenicali does not want to “get rid” of traditional circuits

Miami, Jeddah, soon Las Vegas… For some time now, F1, under the control of its new owners (Liberty Media), has been welcoming more and more modern tracks. In return, it sometimes abandons old circuits, thus confirming that the discipline has entered a new era driven by the generation of spectators eager for “show business”. For the most purists, this is heresy with regard to the history of Formula 1. Others welcome these new routes with great pleasure, like Lewis Hamilton happy to be able to go all over the world like recently in Miami which was entitled to the second edition of its Grand Prix.

« Personally, I like the direction she (F1) Foum Zguid, assumed the seven-time world champion. I love the change we are seeing. It's exciting to go to different parts of the world and different circuits. We have been to all the other continents, I hope that we will soon go to Africa and that it will be an extraordinary experience for the whole circus to discover the culture of this continent. It's a challenge from an engineer and pilot perspective to go to these new places. »

Hamilton gets the message across

Although delighted to be able to visit new destinations and participate in this new era, Lewis Hamilton nevertheless remains aware that Formula 1 must not go in all directions. The pilot Mercedes understands the new interests but he believes that managers must not abandon F1's past for increasingly exotic places which have not shaped the history of this sport.

« I love all the old tracks and will always prefer them, he proclaims. Maybe in 20 or 30 years, a young person will see Miami as a historic circuit, but it's new for us. But all the old classics like Hungary, Silverstone, Zandvoort or Monza will always be special.

I think it's important that we continue to have these tracks in the DNA of Formula 1. And as far as I know, Stefano (Domenicali, F1 president) has no intention of getting rid of them. It's good to have a balance between the two. » To the wise.

with Libertymedia and Tilke the circuits where money flows in abundance and where VIPs strut have a future, F1 is shooting itself in the foot, the real enthusiasts will look elsewhere, where it will be real racing with less flon-flon and more sport and technique

Miami, Jeddah, Las Vegas... Baku, Abu Dhabi, Losail before, so many "Tilkesque" tracks which will certainly not remain engraved in the memories of F1. But not all recent circuits can be as special and hilly as Portimao!
