It is no longer a secret for anyone, since the news was made official last September, Nicholas latifi will no longer be F1 next year, at least as a starter. Williams preferring to bet on the member of his academy Logan sargeant (provided he obtains the Super License), the Canadian was asked to look elsewhere.

Holder of the Grove side since the 2020 season, Nicholas Latifi is paying the high price for his mediocre performances apart from a few (rare) outbursts. In three years, the future former Williams driver has never managed to gain the upper hand over his teammates, both George Russell and Alex Albon and did not really satisfy his bosses who preferred to put an end to their collaboration. Aware that the decision of his superiors is the result of a difficult adventure in F1, to say the least, the native of Montreal feels no resentment.

« There are certainly many aspects that I will miss, but there are also many aspects that I will not miss, he confided during his appearance on the podcast Beyond the Grid. I'm definitely not one of those people who will show bitterness. I don't really have any regrets about my approach to Formula 1. I would have hoped for a lot more, that goes without saying. I really don't think I'm going to be bitter, I'm not, that's a reality. At the end of the day, this industry is about results, and my performance hasn't been consistent enough. Sometimes it was in my hands, sometimes it was out of my control."

What future for Latifi?

His future departure confirmed, Nicholas Latifi saw a host of rumors concerning his future appear on social networks. Among them, one sending him to IndyCar with Chip Ganassi Racing. If he does not hide his interest in the North American championship, the Canadian still leaves himself time before making a choice for the rest of his career.

« For the moment, all options are welcome, I am evaluating them allHe says. I think it's clear that the most obvious path, which is also obvious to fans and outsiders alike, isIndyCar (...) But there are also other possibilities. I haven't committed to anyone... I haven't decided anything yet. » His future not yet defined, Nicholas Latifi is also not closing the door to a role of 3e driver in F1 provided that this allows him “ Actually » to return to the grid later.

Sure, performance and GOATifi don’t go together! And dreaming of a comeback in F1 for the GOATifi (as for Giovinazzi) is really a fantasy... already not easy for Daniel R. multiple GP winner
