It didn't take long for Simone Resta to find a position in Formula 1. After having left Haas last January (at the same time as Günther Steiner), the Italian engineer signed with Mercedes where he will find a certain James Allison. The two men had worked together twice at Ferrari (the first time between 1999 and 2004 and the second between 2013 and 2016). Resta is therefore appointed new director of strategic development for the German brand.
But the 53-year-old Italian does not come alone. Enrico Sampo also joins the Mercedes fold as director of performance software applications. A position he already held at Ferrari. The Brackley factory is therefore being reinforced in important positions with a view to 2025 and 2026. The arrival of the two Italian engineers has, however, not yet been confirmed by Mercedes.
