As the first round of the FIA ​​ETCR arrives this weekend, the list of participants has just been revealed. There are thirteen of them this year aiming for victory in the Electric Touring Car World Cup. The three teams already present in 2021, for the first season of this new category, have maintained their commitments. “ Between the three manufacturers we have a group of proven professionals with an impressive track record in touring and sports car racing that will make the FIA ​​ETCR one of the strongest touring car series “, explains Alan Gow, president of the FIA ​​Touring Car Commission.

The 2021 championship winner, CUPRA Racing is changing its name to CUPRA EKS. The EKS team, founded by Mattias Ekström, the winner of the Driver classification in 2021, joins the ranks of the Spanish manufacturer which also decides to put its trust in Jordi Gené again. They will both be accompanied by one of the winners of the 24 hours of Daytona, Tom Bloqvist and the Frenchman Adrien Tambay.

Hyundai Motorsport decides to field five drivers this year. Jean-Karl Vernay will be at the wheel of the Hyundai Veloster N ETCR with Mikel Azcona, formerly with CUPRA in 2021. The two drivers finished in 2nd and 3rd place respectively in the championship in 2021. Norbert Michelisz, Nicky Catsburg and Kevin Ceccon complete the line-up. list of entrants for the South Korean manufacturer.

Start of the season Friday in Pau

Romeo Ferraris, who finished in second place in the constructor standings in 2021, decide to keep their Italian driver Luca Filippi joined by three other competitors: Maxime Martin, Bruno Spengler and Giovanni Venturini. The thirteen drivers will meet from Friday for the first round of the FIA ​​ETCR in Pau.
