He wasn't necessarily the fastest throughout the 20 specials, but Sébastien Ogier knew how to stay away from the pitfalls of this Rally from Croatia unlike its counterparts. In ambush behind Elfyn Evans and Thierry Neuville since the start of the weekend, the Habs seized their chance when his two opponents made mistakes this Sunday.

The controls of the Croatian round offered on a platter, the eight-time world champion did not hesitate to sign a 59e victory in WRC, almost 10 months after his last in Kenya, with a 9” margin over Elfyn Evans and 7” over Thierry Neuville. A success which also marks its 45e presence on a podium in the premier category.

« It's a nice number, I'm happy with it, confided-he on arrival. It was a complicated weekend. We knew coming here that our starting position would be a problem, but we never gave up and kept the pressure on all weekend. I don't think I've experienced so much heat on the same rally, but it's good to win for the team."

Back on his Toyota Yaris for the first time since the end of January and Monte-Carlo, Sébastien Ogier will continue this time. The Gapençais has already been confirmed for the Rally of Portugal (May 9-12) where the Japanese clan will take their four cars.
