After a stopover in Africa for the Safari Rally, the WRC finds the Old Continent for Rally of Croatia, fourth round of the 2024 World Rally Championship season. A more “classic” event than the first three, after a series of historic and specific rallies (Monte-Carlo, Sweden, Kenya). This is the first real round on asphalt, although the 2024 edition of Monte-Carlo took place in exceptionally dry conditions.

There will be a lot of people in Croatia with 68 crews, or 12 more than in 2023, will be at the start in Zagreb on April 18. The premier category will still be made up of eight cars, with eight Toyota, three Hyundai and two Fords M-Sport. Among the Japanese, Sébastien Ogier and Vincent Landais will return in the third GR Yaris Rally1, while Hyundai has made the expected choice of the Andreas Mikkelsen – Torstein Eriksen duo in the third i20 N Rally1. Adrien fourmaux and Alexandre Coria will also be present aboard the #16 Ford Puma of the M-Sport team.

On the other hand, there will be a very strong field among the Rally2s, with good names for the Croatian Rally: Yohan Rossel and Nikolay Gryazin at Citroën, Pepe Lopez and Gus Greensmith on Skoda, Sami Pajari and Georg Linnamäe with Toyota (non- registered for the WRC2 championship) and finally Nicolas Ciamin and Emil Lindholm at Hyundai. In total, there will be 25 Rally2s at the start. Finally, two French people will be entered in the Rally3: Mattéo Chatillon and Maxence Cornuau in a Renault Clio Rally3, and Tristan Charpentier and Florian Barral in a Ford Fiesta Rally3.

In terms of the route, the 2024 Croatia Rally will be shorter than last year: the event has lost around twenty kilometers to offer “only” 283,28 timed kilometers, divided into 20 special stages.
