Porsche took the first row of the GT-reserved Virginia International Raceway grid. Nick Tandy took pole in 1'42"532 in the no. 911 911 RSR which he shares with Patrick Pilet. The sister car finished less than a tenth behind with Jörg Bergmeister. There Ferrari of the Risi Competizione of Kaffer-Fisichella rose to 3rd position ahead of the two BMW Z4 GTEs of Team RLL. Dion von Moltke took his third pole in GTD at the wheel of the Paul Miller Racing Audi R8 LMS ultra with a lap completed in 1'49"255.
