The neo-electric touring car championship is preparing to take a new step this year, by officially joining the fold of the FIA world championships. For this second season of ECTR, Hyundai unveils its new team, under the leadership of 2021 vice-champion, Jean-Karl Vernay, present in the seven rounds that make up the championship.
“Last year we showed that the Veloster N ETCR can be competitive on track, and we finished strong with my King of the Weekend title at Pau-Arnos, said the Frenchman. For 2022, we should be able to take another big step forward. »

Alongside him, we will find the other Hyundai Motorsport customer drivers, namely the Hungarian Norbert Michelisz and the Spaniard Mikel Azcona, third in the championship last year. The two drivers will alternate ETCR and WTCR events this season.
They will be joined by former WTCR racers, Italian Kevin Ceccon and Dutchman Nicky Catsburg, who will share the final seat. The former will take part in the first three rounds of the series – in France, Turkey and Hungary, while the latter will join the team for the first time in Spain in June for the fourth round.
The first race of the ETCR World Cup will take place on the Pau Ville circuit on May 7 and 8.
