Last night, at Daytona Superspeedway, Michael Waltrip made his 9th Truck Series start. What was supposed to be a simple commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the death of Dale Earnhardt, the late driver Childress, also his “boss” within the Dale Earnhardt Inc. team on this sad February 18, 2001, was transformed into a first victory in the third “div”. That day, as if to pay tribute to the man who had just trusted him, Waltrip won the Daytona 500, his first victory in the big leagues. 10 years later, to the day, in this place both cursed and magical for him, he found, to his greatest happiness, Victory Lane. “ I simply came at the wheel of my black Truck to commemorate his life. Certainly not by imagining winning », confessed the pilot of the Toyota Tundra #15.
