No less than four Acuras will be at the start of the legendary climb of Pikes Peak (Colorado) this Sunday. Honda's American name will see four of its R&D engineers take the start of the "Race to the Clouds" in different models, with hybrid powertrains featured.
An MDX Sport Hybrid specifically developed with a 3,7-liter V6 unit coupled to three electric motors offering 405 hp, an RDX A-Spec featuring a 2,0-liter VTEC engine with supercharging based on a 48 V micro-hybrid system ( 354 hp), and two NSXs, one strictly production (bi-turbo V6 coupled to three electric motors for 580 hp), the other receiving a preparation pushing the power to 633 hp with a reduction in mass, will be aligned .
The RealTime Racing team, which is fielding the Acura NSX GT3 in the Blancpain GT World Challenge America, will operate a TLX GT, with all-wheel drive and equipped with a suspension specially designed for the constraints of hillclimb racing, a car which had signed a podium in 2018 with the record in Open Class.
