Africa Eco Race 1st stage – Loomans first leader

Four short seconds. It is the gap that separates the Belgian Jacky Loomans (Toyota) et le Hummer H3 du Kazakh Andrey Cherednikov at the end of the 645 km of the first stage of the Africa Eco Race 2015 in Nador and Jorf El Hamam in Morocco.

On a day with 117 km of timed sections and where the two-wheel drive suffered, the podium was completed by another Kazakh Yuriy Sazonov (Hummer H3) at 5'21 in front of another H3, that of the Czech Miroslav Zlapetal. The first Frenchman, Jean-Antoine Sabatier (Bugga One) ranks 5th at 9'54.

The Frenchman Yves Fromont experienced mechanical problems with his buggy, while the Hungarian Balazs Szalay was the victim of a violent exit from the track. His co-driver Laszlo Bunkoczi was taken to hospital for medical examinations.

Today, the competitors will begin the second stage between Errachida and Tagounite, still in Morocco. 438 km will be on the program including 377 of timed sections.
