The Qatari wins the fifth round of the Cross-Country World Cup ahead of the Peugeot 2008 DKR of Carlos Sainz.

Al-Attiyah wins in Baja Aragon

If the Silk Way Rally, where several favorites of the off-road events were entered with the Peugeot 2008 DKR16 and the Minis of Team Nasser Al-Attiyah (Toyota Hilux – Overdrive), Carlos Sainz (Peugeot 2008 DKR), or even Mikko Hirvonen (Mini ALL4 – Team X-Raid).

The clash between the now leading drivers seen on the Dakar turned to the advantage of the Qatari, still assisted by Mathieu Baumel, winner with 19 seconds ahead of Carlos Sainz. The double world rally champion was in the lead halfway through the event, but was unable to contain the return of the Toyota driver. Mikko Hirvonen and Michel Périn placed their Mini in third position, 3'30" behind Al-Attiyah.

Xevi Pons hoists his Ford Ranger into fourth position at 9'57", while Jutta Kleinschmidt ranks 12th at the wheel of a Mini ALL4. Entered for the first time in a race with Overdrive, Nani Roma was the victim of a road accident.
