Kick-off at Bagnols-Sabran

The French Mountain Championship begins this weekend in Gard, in Bagnols-Sabran. Once again, the top of the bill will be held by the Formula Nippon and F3000 of Régal, Petit, Schatz and Frantz.

If the sun deigns to warm up the new surface of the Bagnols-Sabran hill climb, the record signed by Chambérod in 2004 could fall under the assaults of Lionel Régal, Sébastien Petit and Nicolas Schatz, the major trio of the 2008 championship. don't forget Fabien Frantz, last year's surprise winner. Behind this proven quartet are other ambitious players like Thomas, Neveu, Bouche, Baudin and Ritchen. Despite the 400 hp of their BMW engine, the Norma trays play a tone below. The withdrawal of Pernot and Malateste, titled in 2006 and 2008, leaves Cyrille Frantz on track for a fifth title against Basra, Castellana, Cannata and Milesi.

The entry on the scene of Porsche Carrera Cup of Soutrenon and Werver will relaunch the battle in closed cars against the BMW of Dosières, which recovered during the winter, and the Audi ST of Roudet. And the withdrawal of Lhermet, the immutable king of group F, will bring the ten or so players out of the shadows. Peugeot ou Renault in the running for the group F2000, where hopeful Dimitry Nugue tries his luck with a 306 XSI. Group N, whose last two winners are not running again, could smile on Cat despite the presence of around ten identical BMW M3s in the hands of Baby, young Cosson, Dean Granjon and Escort de Faullumel.
