She was expected and the McMurtry Spéirling did not disappoint this Sunday at the Shootout Goodwood Festival of Speed (England). The prototype piloted by the former pilot of Formula 1, Max Chilton came to set the new record for the Goodwood climb in 39″08. Before achieving this time in the final, the British driver had already beaten the Frenchman's time with a time of 39″14.

So obviously at the end of his attempt, Max Chilton was happy “ I didn't think this was going to happen. I only slept an hour last night, I was so stressed! I am very honored to set this time. The car has the British flag on the sides, because the whole project is British: the engineers, the manufacturer and me! I've been coming here since I was four years old. Before Max Chilton set off to set the record, Romain Dumas knew that his reference time (41″18) was going to be beaten. “I think I’m going to lose this record. Their car is well suited, it is so small. From year to year, I feel that a competition is created in this Shootout. But the event is super nice and keeps its warm philosophy”, explained the Habs. It remains to be seen how long Max Chilton's time will remain in place. Before that of Romain Dumas, the record dated from 1998.
