Dakar – Al-Attiyah loses control of the event

Orlando Terranova (Mini) will have the privilege of opening the road in the second special between Villa Carlos Paz and San Juan (Argentina), whose 518km route will be the longest of the 2015 Dakar. Nasser Al-Attiyah (Mini) finished first in the first stage, the Qatari received a two-minute penalty for having been caught speeding at 68km/h instead of the regulatory 50km/h.

Robby Gordon (Hummer) thus inherits second place ahead of Giniel de Villiers (Toyota), Krzysztof Holowczyk (Mini) and Emiliano Spataro (Renault), all less than a minute from the new leader. Nasser Al-Atttiyah fell to seventh place just behind Bernhard Ten Brike (Toyota).

Nani Roma (Mini) was able to reach the finish of the first stage after being towed by an assistance truck following his oil pressure problems. But with more than six hours late, the winner of the last edition can put aside his hopes of a good result.

Orlando Terranova will begin the second stage from 9:07 a.m. (13:07 p.m. in France).
