Davy Jeanney took his revenge

Davy Jeanney (Citroën Xsara « WRC ), after his mechanical breakdown in Faleyras, was keen to do better in Châteauroux, and even to get back to the forefront. Marc Laboulle?s successor did not fail in his mission since he managed to put himself back at the top. The sharpest driver during the qualifying rounds, Davy Jeanney did the hardest during the third round, taking pole position for the Division 1 A final.

At the start of the race, the pole-sitter started ideally, ahead of Jérôme Grosset-Janin (Citroën C4 “WRC”), who came from the second row and who got the better of David Meslier (Renault Clio III “WRC”). While Jeanney escapes, Meslier, in the third row, has difficulty containing Samuel Peu (Peugeot 207 “WRC”). He had to stop on the fifth lap because of a broken steering ball joint.

Peu then regained third place but, due to a puncture at the left rear, spun and gave up his third place to Alexandre Theuil (VW Golf IV “WRC”), winner of the B final and coming from sixth place at the start. Davy Jeanney therefore won ahead of Jérôme Grosset-Janin and Alexandre Theuil, and took advantage of these 20 points scored to take the lead in the championship standings.
