Dayraut increases its lead

Jean-Philippe Dayraut, relieved of a large part of his weight handicap, was able to attack the second round of the Andros Trophy in the best possible way. With his own style which is bearing fruit, the Haut-Garonnais achieved the best time in the qualifying heats, by far. An excellent time in the first heat allowed him to save time in the second; Then, during the second Elite Sup final, the reigning champion was able to impose his Skoda against Alain Prost (Dacia) and Bertrand Balas (Toyota) to stock up on points (60 + 20).

« The day was perfect!, recognizes Jean-Philippe Dayraut. The result is all the more interesting as we have some of the best tires after this first day. I was actually able to save them during the second round of qualifying. : it?s a good thing for tomorrow (Sunday). On the other hand, Alain Prost loses a few kilos, while I gain sixty. If we can win tomorrow (Sunday), that would be ideal. But it won't be easy. That being said, we saw with the performance of Olivier (Panis) that our Skoda behaved relatively well with ballast. The changes made to the Fabia this winter have been beneficial. »

His most serious rival for the title, Alain Prost, took 74 points (55 + 19) where his opponent took 80. After the qualifying rounds and the disputed final, the ?Professor? is now ten points behind Jean-Philippe Dayraut in the general classification. “ With our 60 kg of ballast, I don't think we could have done much better today (Saturday), confides Alain Prost. This podium is therefore a positive result, even if Jean-Philippe Dayraut increases his lead by six points. Tomorrow (Sunday) it won't be much easier because we will take on another 40 kg of ballast. The track deteriorated significantly during the evening and we will have to manage our tire quota intelligently. »

Second day of competition this Sunday in Andorra. End of qualifying heats at 10:50 a.m. Finals played between 11:35 a.m. and 13:35 p.m.
