Dayraut wins the Andros Trophy

During the first race, Olivier Panis won his third victory in Andros Trophy, his first in a Skoda: “I am obviously very happy to achieve this first victory, after which I have been racing since the start of the season. I now have a third place in the general classification to defend at Super Besse, this will be my No. 1 challenge. Today, I know where I am, I want to continue racing the Andros, because I have want to win it. In the meantime, I will concentrate on winning the last event of the season. »

Then it was the turn ofAlain Prost to climb to the top of the podium with Dacia: “We came very close to victory last week and I am happy to have made it happen. Congratulations to Jean-Philippe for his title, he had a great season combining performance and consistency. We were aware of being the challengers against an opponent at the top of his full potential! »

By securing the points he was missing, Jean-Philippe Dayraut won a second consecutive Andros Trophy: “The results are significantly better than last year. I felt more comfortable, I was even faster, while making fewer mistakes. However, I expected a little more competition. Our Škoda Fabia, apart from a few adjustments introduced after our tests at Alpe d?Huez at the beginning of January, was almost the same, facing new competitors. Alain (Prost) held me in high stead until the holidays, but he gave up ground afterwards. The situation evolved in my favor, which made me even stronger in my head. I could afford a misstep, unlike my pursuers who knew that the slightest mistake would be fatal to them. »

The final of the 2009/2010 Andros Trophy will take place this weekend in Superbesse.
