Disappearance – Christian Debias

His first stroke of brilliance was to win the French Formula championship Renault 1975. But without means, he turned to hill racing, a discipline which allowed the best to finance themselves.

A diligent student, he won the title in 1977 ahead of Max Mamers and Michel Pignard and joined the elite of the discipline in the heyday of Mieusset, Maublanc, Tarrès, Sourd, Boccard, Courage... The Nancéen will, however, have to wait 17 years to recover the crown , which he will style in 1994 and 1995.

Faithful to Tico Martini's productions, he has driven everything from the MK28 to the MK74. In 2002, Christian abandoned car for the Porsche 993 GT3 avec laquelle il remporte de nombreuses victoires en GT avant de raccrocher en 2008 après quatre décennies de compétition et 850 départs !

Double winner at Mont-Dore in 1995 and 1996, he took the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice, finishing 2nd in 2 liters in 1980 in a Lola T298. With a strong character and famous for his jokes and hoaxes, Christian died on April 4 at the age of 75, the victim of a heart attack while he was out in a 4×4 with friends in the south of Tunisia. To his wife Joëlle and his daughter Julie, the AUTOhebdo editorial staff sends its most sincere condolences.
