Hungaroring Classic – A successful biennial

The Hungaroring circuit is nicknamed the “turnstile” because of its 16 incessant series of turns. It has a narrow, slow and bumpy route on which the quality of the driving makes all the difference.

It is these difficulties that were faced by the 179 drivers of the 170 cars entered on the seven grids in the race this weekend (2.0 L Cup, Sixties’ Endurance, Classic Endurance Racing I, Classic endurance II, Group C Racing, Greatest’s Trophy and Heritage Touring Cup).

Nine hectic races that 45 spectators came to admire. But the show was also behind the scenes with the presence of 000 vehicles from motor clubs, the vast majority Hungarian, who made the trip behind the wheel of vehicles rarely present at Peter Auto events.

Models from the Trabant, Wartburg and DKW brands, manufactured in East Germany, or even the traditional Lada (Russia) have given a unique look to the Hungaroring!

On the exhibitor side, sellers of spare parts and miniatures, barbers, vintage clothing brands, etc., delighted the visitors who immediately found themselves immersed in another era. In the end, this public success was matched only by the media enthusiasm for the Magyar meeting, as evidenced by the presence of more than 150 accredited journalists.

A successful second edition with flying colors by the Peter Auto teams who were able to rely on the expertise of local promoters Tamás Rákosi and Balázs Szalay. “Hungaroring Classic was a gamble for Peter Auto, underlines Patrick Peter. Today, the quality of the vehicles entered on all the platforms as well as the enthusiasm of the public only confirms our vision. »

At the start of the school year with the Monza Historic, 5th race of the Peter Auto series, which will be held from September 20 to 22 on the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza circuit in Italy.
