The Volkswagen ID.R is back! The German manufacturer has confirmed its participation in Goodwood SpeedWeek (October 16-18). This event replaces the Goodwood Festival of Speed (FoS) and Goodwood Revival initially scheduled for this summer and canceled due to the current health crisis.
Victorious during the last two editions of the FoS, the ID.R returns to England for a new coronation. It will nevertheless have to adapt to the route chosen this year. Indeed, SpeedWeek will take place not on Goodwood Hill but on the Goodwood Motor Circuit. A 3,8 kilometer long track.
« For decades, Goodwood has been a great attraction for motorsport fans from around the world. We are delighted that the organizers were able to organize SpeedWeek during these very difficult times », underlines Sven Smeets, director of Volkswagen Motorsport.
« SpeedWeek offers great media coverage. In this way we can once again show the fantastic development of Volkswagen's electro-mobility to an audience of several million people. ».
While it already holds the record at Goodwood Hill (41“18), the ID.R is now tackling the best mark ever recorded on the Motor Circuit. The latter peaks at 1'20"4 and belongs to the former pilots of F1 Jim Clark and Jackie Stewart. Enough to expand the showcase already formed by the records at Pikes Peak and Mount Tianmen, all the work of Frenchman Romain Dumas? See you in October.
