Today, only professional competitions are authorized in France as part of the health crisis. Motorsport being particular in the world of sporting practice, the president of the FFSA, Nicolas Deschaux, was keen to discuss with the Minister Delegate Minister in charge of Sports, Roxana Maracineanu to defend motorsport
Thus, in addition to the fact that many competitions counting for a Championship or a Coupe de France require, in essence, a "professionalized level", the purpose of this exchange was to provide concrete elements allowing the Minister to take into account the particularity of automobile disciplines concerning the assessment of the professional nature of certain activities.
The President of the FFSA also recalled that, in terms of health, the practice of motorsport and karting takes place outdoors, without contact and that all participants have personal protective equipment which constitutes an additional “barrier” for prevention against the virus. Furthermore, it is likely that the individual and contactless practice of an outdoor sporting activity does not increase the risk of exposure to the virus.
According to the FFSA, the Minister Delegate in charge of Sports indicated that the Ministry would decide as soon as possible on a progressive sequencing of the return to practice for everyone and in particular authorized competitions.
Finally, the President of the FFSA insisted to the Government that access to circuits and outdoor tracks be maintained for practitioners despite a possible tightening of health measures. It was also requested to obtain a minimum of visibility for motorsport stakeholders and organizers.
