Chile candidate for the 2011 Dakar

The 2010 Dakar has not yet started and the Chilean authorities are already positioning themselves to organize the event in 2011. Through the voice of the government spokesperson, Chile has thus officially applied to organize the Dakar 2011. « We hope that the experience put at the service of this competition which begins next January will allow us to once again host this important sporting event. », declared to AFP Carolina Toha during the presentation of the 2010 Dakar in Santiago.

For now, the organizers of the most famous rally-raids have not yet decided on the follow-up to the test. “ Next January we will decide the future of the Dakar in South America or East Africa », replied Etienne Lavigne, the director of the Dakar. “ It is only at the end of the next edition that we will decide jointly with the Chilean and Argentinian governments what we will do ", he added.

The 2010 Dakar competitors will set off on January 1st from Buenos Aires to complete a journey of some 9000 kilometers through Argentina and Chile.
