Le Mans Cup – Larbre entered with two LM P3s, the 24 Hours on the horizon

The team The Competition Tree will begin a new chapter in its rich history in 2018. The structure based on the Val de Vienne circuit (Vienna) will begin a prototype program, always in type events Endurance. Two Ligier JS P3s will be entered in the Michelin Le Mans Cup, while a request to present a Ligier JS P217 in the LM P2 class has been submitted to the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) in view of the upcoming 24 Hours of Le Mans.

This is not the first time that the team led by Jack Leconte, specialized in GT, has its eye on the prototype: in 2014, a Morgan LM P2 took part in the Endurance Le Mans Series (ELMS) as well as the classic Sarthoise. “Today, we want to leverage our 30 years of experience in endurance in a new adventure, by turning to sports prototypes and the LM P2 and LM P3 categories”, explains Jack Leconte, the team manager. “The choice of the Ligier brand seemed obvious to us: it allows us to be present in both categories, and to work again with Onroak Automotive. »

Present on board the Corvette C7.R Art car last year at Le Mans in the GTE Am category, the Portuguese Fernando Rees has already made it known that he would drive the LM P2 version of the Ligier in the event of an official entry in mid-June. “We are delighted to once again welcome Fernando to the team. He took pole position in LM GTE-Am at the 24 Hours of Le Mans last year at the wheel of our Corvette, he would be an excellent asset to put our Ligier JS P217 at the forefront this year. »

The full crews for the Michelin Le Mans Cup, the EMS curtain-raiser championship, will be revealed in the coming weeks.
