World RX puts its plans into action by competing in an event in the Middle East. The 2019 season calendar will begin on the weekend of April 6 with a trip to the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi.
“We are delighted to announce this new partnership with the Yas Marina Circuit which allows us to bring the Rallycross in a part of the world where discipline has never been before. The Middle East is renowned for its enthusiasm for motorsport and there is no championship more exciting and lively than World RX., welcomes Paul Bellamy, director of IMG's motorsport department.
The promoter of World RX IMG continues its approach to offering a calendar mixing traditional Rallycross circuits with global routes notably used by the F1.
This approach is also controversial because of the interest of the routes. The tracks at Silverstone (Great Britain) and Austin (Texas) did not really convince. The World RX also travels to the Circuit de Barcelona (Spain) and Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) could replace the Circuit de Mettet next year, as we indicated to you in issue 2184 of AUTOhebdo. The World Rallycross Championship has also visited Hockenheim (Germany) in the past.
