Peterhansel: “Higher ambitions”

Stéphane Peterhansel (BMW), winner of four stages on the 2010 Dakar, experienced a rally-special raid. Out of the race for the final victory from the fifth stage, the Frenchman only had to focus on stage victories. After winning four of the fourteen stages, the BMW finished in fourth position in the general classification, two hours behind Carlos Sainz. A gap which made Stéphane Peterhansel regret his mechanical failure (transmission shaft) during the fifth stage.

« My impressions are mixed, because we saw throughout the fortnight that we had the potential to compete with the leading cars, and to win., says ?Peter?. And in fact a mechanical problem cost us more than two hours, and I see that that's roughly the gap we have with the winners. »

Although he was unable to reach the podium of this 2010 Dakar, Stéphane Peterhansel is not disappointed with the performance of his car and hopes to be able to return to the top by increasing his knowledge of his vehicle. “ The car performs very well and we are happy with the work that has been done all year with the X3: it bodes well. We may have missed a little time, since we joined the team eight months ago. If we start again under the same conditions with the same team next year, our ambitions will be even higher. »
