Peugeot scores a double at the China Silk Road Rally

Peugeot won a double at the China Silk Road Rally with Stéphane Peterhansel (co-driven by Jean-Paul Cottret) who won with a half-hour lead over his teammate Cyril Desprès (David Castera). The five-time winner of Dakar in the car took the lead of the event from the 2nd stage and never let go throughout the 2000km timed race where he won 7 stage victories.

" This rally was long in duration, not necessarily the hardest in terms of kilometers, very pleasant in pure driving and with absolutely sumptuous landscapes like the lakes in the dunes”, commented the winner. “We needed zero technical problems. We achieved the objective. Every morning you know that you can get into the car with complete confidence, the team does incredible work every day. It's good for morale ! »

Cyril Desprès secured 2nd place with two stage victories, finishing 20 minutes ahead of Han Wei (Haval). “We did not expect such a result. It?s a long rally with lots of varied terrain to discover. We were able to see our areas of progress. I have the feeling of not having been able to be 100%. There was always a phenomenon each day which prevented us from riding as much as possible over the entire duration of a special?, added the second Peugeot driver.
