Prost-Dayraut, the duel continues

The strategy of Jean-Philippe Dayraut (Skoda Fabia) showed its limits this weekend since, after the two races in Andorra, the leader of the general classification is only two points ahead of Alain Prost. Weighed down after his victory on Saturday, the Skoda driver lost valuable points during the qualifying heats this Sunday, being only ranked sixth, far from Alain Prost (Dacia Duster), his most serious rival and best time in the qualifying heats. Thanks to this good result, the four-time world champion Formula 1 was able to come back to within two points of the leader.

The Prost-Dayraut duel was then played remotely since the two men were not playing in the same final. During the first Elite Sup final, Jean-Philippe Dayraut finished second, behind his teammate, Olivier Panis (Skoda Fabia). The Grenoblois, less visible in Val Thorens, was able to reach the level of his rivals this weekend in Andorra. Second in the qualifying round, Olivier Panis scored important points, enhanced by his victory in the final.

In the end, several drivers began to emerge for the final victory. Jean-Philippe Dayraut is still best placed, with 301 points acquired during the first two weekends of the Andros Trophy. He is only two points ahead of Alain Prost and nine points ahead of Olivier Panis. Followed, not far away, Bertrand Balas, who returned well this weekend, Jean-Baptiste Dubourg (Clio Renault III), Franck Lagorce (Renault Clio III) and Didier Thoral (Toyota Auris).
