Prost helps Dacia win

The days follow each other and are not the same for Alain Prost. After taming his Dacia Duster, the ?Professor? has moved into high gear. However, nothing was won on the evening of the first race. Indeed, on Saturday, the quadruple world champion of F1, hit violently, had to retire during the final, losing precious points, and seeing his Dacia Duster damaged. But, after a night of work, Team Dacia was able to give Prost a car capable of competing with the Skoda Fabia, Renault Clio III et Toyota Auris.

This Sunday, however, it is Franck Lagorce (Renault Clio III) who first stands out. The former F1 driver set the best time in the first qualifying round but found, not far from him, Alain Prost. The latter even took the lead during the second qualifying round, setting the weekend record in terms of lap time, as well as the addition of the four laps of Val Thorens. The teacher? thus won a pole position which started him at the head of the second Elite Sup final.

During this final, the duel in which Prost and Dayraut took part undoubtedly foreshadows what will unfold this season. The last two winners of the Trophy, starting from the front row, competed to take control of the race for most of the ten laps of this final.

Yet weighed down by 80 kg (20 kg for his title, 60 kg for his victory the day before), Jean-Philippe Dayraut (Skoda Fabia) does not let himself be left behind by the Dacia Duster. Alain Prost thus spent most of the race maintaining his advantage against a defending champion determined to do the double. But the Haut-Garonnais cannot gain the upper hand and prefers to give up.

Dayraut let himself slide so as not to finish on the podium and lose the ballast gleaned on Saturday, in order to arrive lighter at Andorra-Granvalira next weekend. It is therefore Alain Prost who wins during this race, scoring the points which allow him to be second in the general classification, tied on points with Jean-Baptiste Dubourg (Clio Renault III), and four units behind on Jean-Philippe Dayraut (see ranking). It was only the first act of the Prost-Dayraut duel which is coming this season.
